Sav (she/her) and Dave (he/him) had a cozy, fall micro-wedding weekend in the quaint town of Blue Hill, Maine. Their celebration centered around spending time with immediate family that traveled with them from Tennessee for the occasion. The bonus: Sav and Dave also spent one-on-one time together exploring Acadia National Park’s stunning landscape.

Blue Hill Maine Wedding Venue
I’m all about keeping things simple, and getting married at Barncastle Hotel and Restaurant helped Sav and Dave do just that. Everything was in one place; from getting ready in the hotel's historic guest suites, to the dance floor in the foyer. This took away any stress that comes with shuttling guests from one location to another. The accommodations, catering, and bar services were all through the venue, making the process easy and eliminating the need to coordinate with multiple vendors. Having everything in one place created such a fun and cozy atmosphere. Everyone was bouncing from room to room to help each other curl their hair, put on ties, and pin boutonnières. It brought me back to getting ready with friends in college where we would all pile around one mirror to do our makeup, always ready to lend a helping hand and laughing the whole time. Having everything at one location also made it convenient to include their three year old nephew; he got to change into pjs and take naps without anyone having to leave the celebration (and he got to enjoy festivities more because he wasn't tired).

Highlights of Sav and Dave's Blue Hill Wedding Day
This day was filled with SO much fun, love, and special moments! These are a few of my faves:
- Sav’s uncle brought lots of laughs to the day! When I was taking detail photos in the morning, I noticed him asleep on the couch and had to snag a photo for Sav and Dave to get a kick out of when they viewed their gallery. I thought it was such perfect bookending when I found him asleep on the couch again after dinner and everyone piled in to get a picture with him.
- An extremely heartwarming moment was when Sav’s sister-in-law surprised her with a matching necklace that had their (now shared) last name on it. The love between these family members warmed my heart the whole day.
- Dave’s three year old nephew’s dinosaurs were honorary guests at the celebration which was the source of many smiles.

Day After Photos in Acadia
One of the perks of Barncastle Hotel and Restaurant as a weekend wedding destination is it’s less than an hour from Acadia National Park. This creates a perfect opportunity to explore the park with your partner and get gorgeous photos that celebrate both your relationship and the landscape. Sav and Dave got to incorporate one of the things I love most about small wedding celebrations: spending intentional time with your partner and taking in all the memories you're making.

Fall Maine Wedding Tips
- New England fall weather can be unpredictable. I recommend you and your guests bring lots of layers. Sav had a jacket to pair with her dress and a large shawl which came in handy in the rain. Barncastle offers the option for both outdoor or indoor ceremonies, depending on your preferences and the weather.
- The STUNNING Maine fall foliage tends to peak in Acadia in mid-October. To help plan your elopement time, you can look at past foliage reports for Maine.
- Getting married at a small venue allows you to have privacy and avoid fall foliage crowds for your celebration. This gives you the flexibility to plan your outdoor adventure on a slightly less crowded weekday.
